Lindsey was Amazing, Evanescence, not so much....
Amy Lee needs to realize that the newer music doesn't work for a concert. Many people walked out when she started to sing, showing that the amount of people that walked out doesn't work for a concert and the newer music just needs to realize. The Orchestra was loved by me, I thought they were a natural inclusion to her music, HOWEVER, her newer songs just aren't that great, especially for a concert environment.
I understand playing SOME of your newer music, but people (lets be real here, their older stuff is why people like the band) are there to hear your hits.
Look at how many reviews below are echoing the EXACT same thing, even people from there other tour stops, almost everyone is saying that Lindsey was the one that stole the show and Mastodon was beyond disappointing. I think that Amy just needs to realize that the newer music just doesn't work for a concert and the amount of people that walked out when she started to sing shows that. I have NEVER in all my years of going to concerts seen so many people leave during a performance.
She only sand TWO hits in a 1 hour set list and they weren't even good versions, they sounded so different. Obviously they will sound a bit different as she isn't in a studio, she is live, but it was so different that at first it was hard to tell it was the actual song. There were actually 2 songs that sounded so similar that I thought she accidentally played the same song twice, that's not a good thing.
Also, for having the money she does, it baffles me she can't hire proper people to sound check properly. Her singing was overshadowed by the instruments many times and the mic couldn't handle the power of her voice and would also distort things. When you have that many people (just read the reviews) saying the same thing over and over, you really should take notice as an artist. I don't get why some of these artists are almost ashamed of their earlier work, its absolutely bizarre.
If Amy Lee happens to read this I really want her to understand why people are saying this so she has a chance to change this if she continues to tour for years. Lindsey, as others have said, was INCREDIBLE, and if it weren't for her, my review would be even worse. She is amazing and one of the best performers I have seen on stage. It sucks too because there is no denying that Amy Lee has one of the most beautiful live voices of our generation.
